Poverty Syndrome

Poverty Syndrome

An analysis on the Causes of Poverty Can anyone really define poverty? At least not more than a man who hardly gets a meal a day, at least not more than a child who puts on one set of clothes for a year, or a home of seven children in a room apartment or a constant meal of processed cassava soaked in water so as to multiply. The United nations have clearly stated that a man is said to be poor if he doesn't spend above two dollars a day, going by that poverty seems to be closer than it seems and that means almost one out of every five Nigerians are poor.

Poverty is indeed a chronic disease, it made a woman sell her baby for 20,000 Naira, it made a man order his wife to sleep with his boss so as to get a promotion in the office

and also the prostitutes in the brothels sleep with whoever comes their way, tall , short, good looking or not good-looking, Poverty is more than a lack of resource, it is more than a problem of scarcity, it seems to be a chronic mental disease, it is an inheritance no child wants to get from his father, a story not one is willing to compose.

The Bible would say
'' a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of hands so shall thy poverty come, Could laziness be the only root of poverty? One may ask but there is more to it than indolence, some may be poor because of their refusal to work they may want a life of luxury without the resource to pay for it. Poverty to me is also spiritual, because the Bible did say '' Blessed are the poor in spirit''
but the poverty of the spirit is definitely a good one because they would inherit the Kingdom of God, How about the poverty that can be seen.
I once paid a visit to Northern Nigeria and I saw Poverty walking on the streets, poor drinking water and crude methodologies, people work so hard to eat yet have little.
Poverty could also be rooted in poor business methodologies, poor business strategies and localisation, right goods for the wrong location, looking at it from every angle one can say that having the right mind could save one from poverty, knowing how to deal with the challenges that cause poverty could spare us the pains of not having what to eat, what to wear or where to sleep.
But logically speaking can poverty have an end? Just like in the ecosystem some have to produce and some will consume, so in life some will have to descend for others to ascend, if there were no difference in financial capacities some menial jobs would have no labour force however it’s really in the hands of the individual and the Creator.
