I’ve heard many people say that they are
not going to vote president Buhari in the next presidential elections, but the
problem is, even if you don’t vote him who will you vote? Who is the better
candidate? Who is that Nigerian politician that is ready to put the needs of
the people above that of his own, family and his political party and oh, I
forgot their so called “godfathers”.
The Igbo leaders paid the current president
of Nigeria a visit the other, showing that they endorse and support him for the
next presidential election. The problem is not their endorsement, but for me I
believe it is the motive behind the endorsement. Rumor have it that they are
willing to support the president so that come 2023 presidential election, the
current president who by then would have served his second tenure, would
therefore endorse an Igbo person for president. If this rumor is correct, then
that motive is not just stupid but ignorant and foolish too.
The problem with Nigeria is not just who or
which tribe is leading this country, it starts from how the country is being
lead, then takes you to who are “those” leading the country. It’s not just the
president but also even the local government councillors are the problem
Nigeria has.
In fact, the school principals, the teachers, lecturers, head of departments, vice chancellors, honourables, federal representatives, councillors, local government chairmen, senators, governors, personal assistants, advisers, ministers, commissioners, etc contribute to what is wrong with this country today.
Simply put “THEY
DON’T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT YOU”
The funny thing
is that the ne that are lesser in power would always blame those that are
higher in power like, the councillors would blame the local government
chairman, who would in turn blame the hounorable, who would blame the senator
etc.. but in the end everyone blames the president. But then do you know who
suffers most in this process? The PEOPLE!! We have a bunch of politicians who
don’t give a damn about who the people are, unless its election year.
I knew a road in Anambra that had been bad since the current governor took over from Gov Peter Obi and during his campaign, he made a promise to make sure he got it repaired as soon as possible, mostly because Ex Gov Peter Obi had already started work on it. The current governor did nothing on it until it was time for his re-election campaign, he sent tractors and everything to that road and used it as an example in his campaign speech.
It’s just very
funny how Nigerian politicians promise you the whole universe, and end up
taking the little you had away from you.
The Problem With Presidential Election 2019
The problem with
this election is that there is no good candidate to vote, in fact the people
would be forced to choose between the devil and the deep blue sea. It’s still
the same bunch of people, no new face, idea or what’s not.
In the end the
people might decide that the devil you know, is better than the devil you don’t
know.
The current
president in his campaign speech, promised a transparent and accountable
government, he portrayed a government who was out to fight and end corruption,
he promised a security conscious government and liberation from the terrorists
that were attacking innocent civilians. The nation bought the idea and he won
the election without fuss.
Fast-forward
three years later, the civilians haven’t been more terrorized, they don’t just have
to worry about the Boko Haram sect who kill you with bombs and guns (at least
you die fast), they are now more afraid of the Fulani Herds men who attack and
kill you with knives and machetes and sometimes guns. The chase you out of your
farm lands and use your farm produce as food for their cows, what I still don’t
understand is why the government have failed to proscribe them as terrorists.
So much for the promises of peace and prosperity.
The quickness
with which the government proscribed the IPOB (indigenous people of Biafra)
group as terrorist organisation would make you think twice about their motive
to do so. I was expecting the same quickness in the Fulani Herdsmen case, but
they have been silent and people are dying every day.
Well like I
said, campaign would soon fully start and they’ll come again with their lies
and sweet talks, don’t listen rather, put on your headset and listen to Phyno
or Olamide or even Wizkid, at least they have better things to say.
As for me, a
government who doesn’t tolerate and respect people’s opinions, a government
whose senators would rather have the country go broke than take a pay cut for
other workers to get paid, a government
whose priority is to the politicians and party members than to the people, a
government who would mislead the world to thinking that a peaceful group is a
terrorist group (IPOB), a government who would stay put and watch its citizens
die and others be rendered homeless by Fulani Heardsmen, a government whose
vision is nothing and whose future is even more scary to think about, a
government whose leaders are busy partying and planning how to stay in power
while its people starve and die…..
That Government
Does Not and Will Never Have My Support.
But the problem
remains, WHO SHALL WE VOTE??
