THE ME YOU’LL NEVER SEE

The thing about people is that they don’t care about who you really are, most care about who they want you to be. What do I mean?
The society paints this picture of who we are supposed to be, and instead of keeping true to ourselves, we end up molding ourselves according to societal standards.
We end up being something else but oir real selves, and although this doesn’t hurt us in the beginning, in the long run it comes back to eat us up.
I’ve seen a whole lot of people bend to what they think is the perfect image, spend a whole lot of money moulding themselves in the image everyone else wants, and then suppressing the real person they are supposed to be. They pretend to like what they don’t like because it’s “cool”, or do a whole lot of things because everyone is doing it. This in turn takes a toll on many, because you can lie to everyone but yourself.
This outrageous pretense and deceit is the reason many people are depressed today.

You see people marrying not because they love their spouse, but because everyone else says he or she is perfect. So what do you expect to happen in the long run? Divorce is everywhere, depression is also everywhere and this is becoming a nuisance to the society. People are committing suicide daily because of depression, and a whole lot more couples are getting divorced, because they have realised that even when the society thought they were perfect together, they actually aren’t.
The emergence of social media didn’t help matters at all, now you people judging others from anywhere in the world. And yet we keep asking why suicide rate is going up. Social media have brought about “cyber bullying”, which is actually one of the ways people judge others according to how they think they should look.

For example, the society adores girls with pretty face and skinny skin, then fat girls and girls whose face aren’t all that pretty are laughed at. Before, you can just go home and have all the peace u want, but social media have made that impossible today.
The only solution to this menace is believe one’s self and high self-esteem. You must know that you don’t need to bend to anyone’s standards, you don’t need anybody’s validation or opinion on how your life should be. If you want to eat hamburger go and eat it. If you want to be a Christian, Muslim, Jew, etc go be it. Because societal judgments only affects you, only when you think that you aren’t good enough.

You are good enough, so go be the best “you” that you can ever be!
